Many of us seem to struggle with sticking to a weight loss plan. It may seem easy to begin with, when our goals don’t seem so far away. After a while, your motivation wanes and you cannot push through in your workouts like you used to be able to do. This drop-off is not a sure thing for everyone, though. People do succeed in losing weight and keep it off for years. How is it accomplished?

 

First, you need to develop specific goals for losing weight. Is it your desire to wear clothes in a specific size? Do you want to reach a certain goal weight? Are you interested in overall fitness and health?

 

Actually, putting your goals in writing can really help you stay motivated to adhere to your plan. Keep a log of every single piece of food that you consume in a journal. Calculate your total calories consumed every day to make sure you’re not over your limit. Use that same journal to keep track of your weight from week to week. Being able to look back on your progress by means of a graph is a great way to stay on track with your weight loss.

 

When making decisions about what to eat, do not do it when you are starving. Plan your meals in advance to avoid temptation, and always make sure you have healthy snacks ready. Always use organic food products. Eat your own home-cooked meals instead of going out; it will save you money and help prevent you from straying from your diet.

 

Every weight loss plan must include both a healthy diet and an effective exercise program. If you find ways to incorporate fun into your exercise and diet routines, you will find that your weight loss will be steadier. If you find it difficult to motivate yourself to exercise, get a buddy to take a walk with you. Have your family join you for some exercise. You don’t need to be at the gym to exercise. Get outside, move your body and get your blood pumping and the pounds will start shedding.

 

Clean out all the spaces in which you keep junk food. This can be at home, the office, or even your car. The simple fact is you cannot eat something that is not there. Stock your home or office fridge with many different healthy items. Snaking on nuts & dry fruits will be beneficial for your health. Be prepared for sudden snack attacks by having plenty of ready-to-eat foods on hand, such as carrot and celery sticks, fruit, seeds and other nutritious treats.

 

You cannot lose weight because your doctor says you should or your husband/Wife wants you to do it. You have to decide you are going to lose weight because you want to do it for yourself. However, if you ask friends and family for support, the task will be much easier. Sometimes, you won’t feel like working out or will want someone to give you support. Instead of reaching for whatever it is that tempts you most, call someone special for help and words of encouragement. This can get you back on track in no time.
